AEW2025 to host UNEP’s Africa E-Mobility Regional Forum in AddisAbaba

Flagship policy forum returns to spotlight Africa’s clean transport leadership

Nairobi, Kenya — 5 May 2025 Africa E-Mobility Week 2025 (#AEW2025) is proud to announce
the hosting of the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Africa E-Mobility
Regional Forum
as a central component of AEW2025, taking place from 16 –18 September
2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

As the continent accelerates toward sustainable and inclusive transport, the Forum will serve
as AEW2025’s policy anchor—bringing together African governments, development partners,
and private sector stakeholders to advance ambitious e-mobility goals across Africa.

“UNEP is proud to host the Africa E-Mobility Forum at AEW2025 as a space where public and
private actors can come together to accelerate meaningful progress,” said Annika Berlin,
Programme Management Officer, UNEP Sustainable Mobility Unit.
“Sustainable transport isn’t just a climate solution—it’s a lifeline for Africa’s cities,
communities, and future generations.”

Now in its third edition, the Africa E-Mobility Forum builds on UNEP’s growing leadership in the
sector, following successful convenings in:
2023 (Inaugural Forum)
2024 (2nd Edition)

“We could not be more excited to host UNEP and the Africa E-Mobility Forum at AEW2025,”
said Lisa Amenya, Chief Convenor of AEW2025.
“This collaboration speaks to the urgent need for shared leadership in designing Africa’s
transport future—grounded in equity, innovation, and climate action.”

AEW2025, convened by the Africa E-Mobility Alliance (AfEMA) in partnership with the
Ethiopian Ministry of Transport and Logistics & UNEP, will feature over 500 in-person
participants, 1,500+ digital attendees, and a dynamic three-day programme including:
